This week, Panu Korhonen says goodbye after almost 10 years at Nordkapp. He’s off to another big challenge, and we wish him the best. He had a few nice things to say about the individuals at Nordkapp in our #job-well-done channel as a parting note:

Aki is the nicest person — he’s always so helpful. Besides, he’s the best front-end coder the world has seen.

Annukka convinced me already in the first small project with Telia that she masters both the craft and the management. You can send her anywhere and she’ll take care of it.

Ari is so natural socializing that he feels like a friend even after a short discussion. And he’s a fisherman, which is always a good sign.

Eero has always a positive attitude to life, and I respect his views on trying to make this world a better place for all of us.

Elisa has in this short period assumed the role of making things roll at the office. Effectiveness without extra fuss.

Harri is the grandad of interaction design. At Nokia, I was counting on him to singlehandedly pull through any project, and he still has that skill.

Heikki has a tremendous experience in service design and beyond. His style of analysing and visualising complex systems is an example for us all.

Helmi is never afraid of the new: without a moment of hesitation she was ready to move abroad. She dedicates herself wholeheartedly to anything she sets up to.

Ilkka has the magic fingers for cooking up the most interesting and ambitious business opportunities.

Jukka is the best team mate for an interaction designer. With him it’s wonderful to bounce back and forth ideas that will be significantly improved by every round, achieving the 1+1 = 3.

Juhani has more energy than all Fortum’s power plants together. Use it well and you can do a lot of good in this world.

Liam is on a path of becoming a multi-talented top designer, with a good combination of both interaction and visual skills. That’ll take you a long way.

Masha lightens up the office with her positive attitude. With confidence she’s assumed the role of the leading motion designer here in no time.

Matti is a combination of a designer and a very nice guy, and has surprised us all with the talent in creating new business all around Europe.

Meri has an astonishing capability of seeing the big picture in complex issues. She has taken me with a surprise several times already. In addition of course to her impeccable visual design skills.

Mika L. seems to master the business design inside out. His down-to-earth attitude to complex business design issues will help evolving Nordkapp to a new level. You should listen to him more.

Mika N. has such a positive attitude to all new ideas. No wonder he gets to work with all the latest tech and gadgets, and if somebody it’s him that can make them beautiful and human.

Monika is a person with high integrity, both as a designer and as a colleague. If there’s anything fishy, she’s the first one to point that out. Pay attention what she says.

Panu R. is a solid visual designer, who is not afraid of new challenges, such as jumping to an unknown client in an unknown country. (Editor’s note: we can drop the R. from now on)

Petri has a beautiful mind and he can see the future opportunities in every occasion.

Sami has a very good eye for aesthetics, and the relentless pursuit for quality has helped Nordkapp to get where it is now.

Samuli should make more noise about himself. His visual stuff and methodical approach has been stunning with the design systems.

Satu seems to be growing professionally every day. I wonder if she will ever stop. Maybe she will be the next MD at Nordkapp?

Shakti has evolved as a designer every year. He’s also the person to go to, if there are any questions about the latest design tools. He has already tried them all out way before you have even heard of them.

Sonja has amazing skills in becoming trusted go-to-person among the clients. She is also interested in trialling new methods and approaches, which is good for the whole company.

Teppo is such a solid interaction designer that he should not be so modest about it. He held Elisa up, and now he’s holding Telia up.

Topias seems like a versatile designer, with an eye to both visuals and interaction. And he is as handsome as Ricky Gervais.

Tuukka is the most efficient interaction designer I have seen. Give him two days and he’s designed the most complex system, faultlessly. If you are not careful, he has done your job too.

Vesa takes every responsibility given to him very seriously. Just look at the dedication he has with running Nordkapp, or with cycling. You’re in good hands.

And a few words from Petri and Sami about Panu’s impact.

Panu has the sharpest mind I have worked with, ability to discard nonsense and focus on making utopias usable. In short, and again, Panu — making utopias usable. — Petri

Panu is a super fast thinker who sees the the gamut of probable solutions when others try to figure out where is the problem. Impeccable sense of style. Beneath the witty and analytical output is a warm & humane soul. I have learned + grown so much during these two rounds, looking forward the third. —Sami
